Hey What Is All that Racket Outside

So I was thinking, I am pretty sure that the people around the world, including Indonesia are now making up rubber wrist bands for those in the path of Hurricane Katrina, right? Maybe sell them out on the beaches or hotels to raise money cuz I am pretty sure that anyone effected by the tsunami disaster saw just how Americans are not really self centered A-Holes like the world thought but rather a country that comes together not only for their own disasters but comes together to help out those in other countries also.

So I am sure that soon we will see the leaders of other countries get together and make public service announcements asking for donations to help those that lost everything in the wake of the hurricane.......Right?

How high is too high.

So I was thinking the other day, how high would gas prices have to get before we all started to ride the bus more...The answer was somewhere between $263 and $347 per gallon.

Ok people lets get off the whole "gas is really expensive" kick. Is it more than than the $.99 per gallon of a couple years ago, well yes but I am pretty sure that was the same price back in like 1982. Inflation is a bitch isn't it?

The last I checked oil is a natural resource and it isn't unlimited. We will run out of it, let alone the cost of refining it to gasoline. Last I checked a gallon of water was more expensive than gas.......and Windex.......and just about anything that smells good is more expensive than gas.....

Now that being said and all, we also can't pretend that the cost of gas isn't going to effect the economy...just the new cost of shipping product is going to have a impact. So don't complain that gas is so expensive, complain that it is going to raise the cost of just about everything else out there....when that hits it is really going to suck.

Vanilla Vs. Napoleon

Jen bought some ice cream sandwiches the other day, one box of Neapolitan and one box of Vanilla. I have to say that I enjoy the Vanilla over the Neapolitan. See the Vanilla is simple yet tasty without over powering. I find the Neapolitan to be confused, searching for an identity. Besides how am I suppose to decide which side to start with. See if I start with the chocolate side then I end with strawberry with a side kick of vanilla. Or I start with strawberry and end with chocolate which only leaves a lasting after taste that isn't to appealing....smacking lips dryly

Dance of the "FANTASY"ful Unicorn

We got the league back together again this year, yes the fantasy football league. What does this mean? Well for starters it means that once again I spend most of my Sunday's watching football, but not just Packer football but all the games. See you get players from all around the league, but together you form a team.

1-Quarterback
3-Wide receivers (San Francisco University...Sorry inside joke)
2- Running Backs
1- Tight End (also from San Francisco University...Get it now?)
1- kicker
1- Defense

Together you get points for touchdown and yards, that kind of thing.

Well we lost some people from the league last year and we had to replace them with new friends of ours. I asked a buddy of mine from work, and little did I know that his wife has a blog and I am sure will be keeping us up to date on his fanaticism of the up coming year. To top it off apparently if he gets out of hand we are going to have to have an intervention were we will have to force him to admit his problem.....Admittance is the first step you know.

well lets give a shout out to Playground in my mind and Warriors Forever. At the very least we'll see first hand how fantasy football can effect a marriage...This should be fun.

Random Muse

Wanna know how my day started today? Well I am going to tell you anyway only because this is my blog I really could care less if your interested.

On the company's web site that I work for there is a daily game of Hi/Low. Remember this game, 4 cards face down and 1 card face up and you have to guess is the next card is higher or lower? If you get all four guesses right you get $5. What I found is just how excited I get over $5 bucks. The other game is bingo with is played over the week and if you get bingo first you win $100.

Well as of this morning I was 1 number away. So the key is to be the first one to log on and get the number you need. I totally forgot his morning that I was 1 number away....Got up at 3:30am, showered, dressed, brushed teeeee.........HOLY CRAP I NEED TO CHECK MY NUMBERS! After logging in and checking the numbers I realized I had bingo....N42. As I hit the number and saved I realize that my day started with winning $100 bucks....

Something good happened today.

Lonely Sunday Mornings

Jen works every other weekend now. The good news is that she has the whole weekend off, the bad news is that when she does work on a weekend it is all weekend, that would be this weekend.

So here I sit with the boys downstairs playing some video games and I am watching Sportscenter, keeping an eye on those pesky Brewers who are only 5 games out of the wild card. I keep waiting for them to make the pounce to 2 games or less out of the wildcard but alas this maybe the closest they get all year to the playoffs.

I watched some of the Packers last night and overall I liked watching the first teams play. The defense is going to better than last year only because they have a great defensive coach in Bill Bates, so loved that pick up. The first team offense looked great for the first and only series that Farve played. I know people keep saying how bad the Pack is going to be but they are going to be a sleeper. Remember the last two seasons they barely made the playoffs. Two years ago they needed a miracle in Arizona and last year they were only 10-6 and had every opportunity to be 8-8. People listen up, there will be some consistency in the Pack this year. They won't be a superbowl team but they won't embarrass themselves like they did last year.

Ok on to the Badgers, Some are picking the Badger Football team coming in last in the big ten....are you serious? Look, they have Alvarez and his ability to manage a game as good as anyone in college football will give them 5-6 wins. They will make a bowl but not a great bowl.....something like the weedeater bowl or maybe the "sold our soul to big business" bowl. That is a rant for another day.

Today is going to 73 and sunny, the AC is off and the windows are open.

Today is going to be a good day.

Hey NCAA.....Suck this

Have to say something on the NCAA and their decision to force all 118 colleges with a native American mascot to change to something a little more politically correct. You would think that the schools would have no choice in the matter but the big school that it is affecting is Florida State Seminoles. You want to know what FSU has said? "hey NCAA, fuck off". But that is not the kicker...The kicker is that the Florida Seminole tribe said "hey NCAA, fuck off".

Yep the same people that it is suppose to offend have stood up and said that the school has never done anything to lower the image that they want to portray, but rather they have enhanced it. Now an even bigger kicker...even the Oklahoma Seminole tribe has said "hey NCAA, fuck off". Yeah a tribe from a completely different state has stood up and said this is completely stupid, way to go NCAA.

So I was thinking, lets name the schools after white people......like the fighting whites, or the crazed honkies......

I think we should all play, let me know what these schools should name themselves....Hey this could be fun.

Day Off

I took today off, no reason other than the fact that I wanted to.....Oh yeah and there was very little to do at work, orders are way down.

Bonus: got to see the final holes of the PGA Championship and watch Phil Mickelson birdie the last whole....

Bonus: got to go to the Y in the morning instead of the afternoon....like old times

Bonus: had time to complete errands....without having to take a nap.

Bonus: took a nap cuz all the errands were done.

Something good happened today

When I was unemployed and going to school my dad used to send me emails about keeping my head up, although none of the emails were life changing in subject, being they usually said something about the badgers or packers, but he would always sign it "something good will happen today". I started to use this every day and even sign it to emails that I sent out. So when things started to go not exactly the way I wanted them too I just think "something good will happen today".

Well as I walked up to my house today after work I grabbed the mail and saw it, yep IT!

it was the official diploma that I can touch and see...Shit I even smelled it. I walked right upstairs and showed Jen the piece of paper because really it is just as much hers as it is mine.

ok so back to my story, anyway as I walk up to the mailbox I could see it peeking out....And I thought to myself......."Something good happened today"

I am so excited I could wet my pants

Yeah so tonight the Green Bay Packers are playing a scrimmage....yep not even a pre-season game but just a scrimmage. But seeing the uniforms out there and the crowd....Shit, does it get any better?

Once regular season starts then the world will stop every Sunday, for now....Well wetting my pants will have to do.

Stupidity.........Happiness, One In the Same

The Devine One once said that stupidity is happiness. Those of us that are miserable more than likly take too much time thinking about things that paralyze ourselves.

Well there is someone who for a long time thought like I used to. I used to think that I held down the bell curve of stupidity, especially at school only to find out that what I was lacking was not the ability but rather the method.

Let me explain, I heard someone say once "if I keep doing what I am doing long enough to figure out how to do it, I will be immenslly successfull". Well back to this very special person who said to me "ummm, I don't think that I am doing this right"

So I said "why do you think you did it wrong?"
"well because it is too easy"
"well learning should be easy"
"so I am doing it right?"
"what do you think?"
"I guess so"

What she doesn't realize and she doesn't see yet is that she is undertaking a huge leap of faith trusting herself, which means she is disregarding her fear and doing it anyway. And when it is all said and done I hope she says to me "ok I am not sure why I was so scared, that was easy"

On the Shores of Insanity

In the early 90's some of you may remember Mtv's show that was aired in the afternoon with Pauly "The Weasel" Shore. I actually went and saw him in concert when I was a senior in high school and as funny as I thought he was by the time I hit college I just really didn't give a shit about him....but he had some endearing moments. Maybe the best thing about the concert was that the group "the Spin Doctors" opened up for him and they rocked.....good times.

Anyway the other night Jen and I were flipping through the stations and come across This. After about 10 minutes we found it to be very funny, especially to those of us that remember him 15 years ago.
