Well why don't you marry it?

Dick Enburg is in love....who is Dick Enburg you may ask?

Well Dick is the voice of Wimbeldon tennis in the U.S. He has been the commentator for it since....well....ever!

But if you listen to him it sounds like he is describing the most beautiful woman in the world...which ok but you know what? He can stop now, she is so not letting you get any at the end of the night...not even a peck on the cheek. She will just think you weird in the way you talk about her and her guests...really man...let it go!

Damn, is that a towel or sandpaper

Note to self, when the dryer takes a crap expect rough, coarse towels.

Yep it happened, in fact I predicted it only a couple of weeks ago. I told Jen "hey we should really save up some money for a new washer and dryer cuz this one is about 10 years old and they will go soon". Flash to last week: Jen wakes up to the dryer running at 6am in the morning....she turned it on at like 7pm the night before.

So apparently the timer went out thus blowing out the heating unit. So all laundry either has to be hung out or taken with her to work where she can put it in a dryer next door at the laundry mat. which makes for rough towels and now the search has begun for a new washer and dryer....well dryer first...we'll deal with the washer at a later date.

A Soul Gone Home

There are people that come along in your life that just seem to fit right, in this case intergrate into our family seamlessly, where he became as much a part of the Andrews clan as any of us, only with the last name of Hollander.

What defines a man? Well in this case it was one that over time learned how to joke and laugh with the best of us, he needed to in order to survive family get togethers. He seemed to enjoy it. A man takes responsibility, does what is right, and lives with good grace and judgment and john did just that.

I remember playing basketball with John and trying to get a shot off over his 6'6" frame with the wing span what seemed like twice that, I think he started to feel bad for me because after a while he took it easy on me.

I remember him sitting back and watching as we would banter as a family, making fun of each other. His smile would tell you he was having fun, because after a while he gave it as well as he took it.

But the image that I will always remember him by will be looking up from the seats at Camp Randall Stadium and seeing him walking down the stairs toward us as we were waiting for him to show up.....It seemed like he always had a blanket under his arm.

So what I know is that every year on June 16th, I will think of John as a friend but more importantly as a brother that we lost way to early.

God Bless You John

Anyone Else See that Meteor Heading Right for Us?

Being that we were drinking some beer it was amazing that we pulled it off...Only to fall into our drunken stupor and instant later.

Lifesavers are by all accounts small, simple fresh breath makers.

As I grabbed on I heard her say "can I have one please" in a slightly slurred speech only indicative of having what seemed like two beers but in actuality it was closer to 6 or 7.

It felt just right in my hand and as I let go of the breath mint it floated in the air, spinning ever so slightly in slow motion.

As the breath mint landed on her tongue we both looked at each other in, even when sober let alone drunk, pure amazement.

I should have known better but lets face it neither of us was really in the right state of mind to know better let alone know anything, but we smiled and laughed at we thought was a small miracle that could not be reproduced in any event.

As we raised our hands to give each other the high five that was rightfully deserved we missed completely only to be left in complete despair at the tradgity that still hung in the air that was the small miracle only to be squashed by the sheer stupidity of pressing your luck.

Only One Year Later...

That is right, this blog has been going on for exactly one year...can you believe it?

Yep last year between my spring and summer school sessions I started this blog because...well...I had nothing better to do.

I was hoping that in the last year I would write something so profound that it would change the world...alas the only thing I have learned is that no matter what lets not forget that it is, and always will be, all about me!

MMMM....Warmth

just like that we have warmth. The debate around the house is to turn on the A/C or not....I mean it is 80 and muggy around here...and in the summer we would have it on....so why not now?

There is this constant fight in my mind that because it is hot outside....and like just a week ago it was really cold...that I can't turn on the A/C...so here I sit...muggy...sticky and not very happy that I am not comfortable but won't turn it on......NO NO NO NO NO!!!!!!!

ok I am turning it on.....dammit!
