Stir Crazy
I am officially burnt out with school. As a matter of fact I am burnt out being home with the kids all day, they are driving me mad!
Not that they are doing anything wrong they are just being 3 and 6. Then to top it off Jenny works all day and by the time she gets home she is just really tired. It is hard to reconnect as a couple when you are that tired, knowing that you have to go do it the next day for the little pay she does get. So our conversations are short lived and we look forward to her time off, although I am not sure when that will be.
Ok enough of all that.
I have on sportscenter and they are recapping the McGuire/Sosa home run race in 98. I am not a huge baseball fan, in fact I am not sure I have watched a whole game since the strike in 94. But this race was pure excitement. The home run might be the simplest, most exciting event in sports. Hit Ball, Hit Ball far, then take your lap. It is easy and fun to watch.
I remember that Dominic was about 6 months old and the game McGuire broke the record was a primetime game and I was rocking him to sleep. I had put the game on low sound and Dom fell asleep as I rocked. It happened that McGuire was due up next and instead of putting him in his bed I just kept rocking.........Then he made the hit. As I recall it wasn't the normal high flying bomb that Mark was known for but rather a rope that just barely made it over the wall.
I just remember thinking that everytime I see that home run, or everytime that they talk about that home run I will remember rocking my son asleep watching a great time in baseball history.
How cool is that
